Cleaning air filters on combines, trucks and tractors is a hassle, but the equipment is more efficient and will have a longer life with consistent filter cleanings. A portable solution is available to make the chore easier.

The Filter Blaster from Salmon River Innovations in Spencer, Iowa improves fuel efficiency and increases the life of the filter. Dennis Grieve, inventor of the Blaster, says a filter can be cleaned up to 20 times. The Blaster is available as a shop model, where the dust collects in a shop vacuum, or as a portable model used in the field. A source of compressed air is needed to operate the Blaster.

Ports within the Blaster’s centrifugal forced air induction chamber create a shaft rotation that uniformly vibrates and discards dirt and particles from the inside of the air filter outwards. The company says that, although the process is simple and direct, cost savings for a single application upon even small sets of equipment may well pay back the acquisition cost in a single application.

The payoff comes through:

  • Less stress on the engine
  • Increased engine performance
  • Reduced engine maintenance
  • Extended engine life

The Filter Blaster is also an environmentally friendly “green” technology that:

  • Reduces oil consumption and dependence on foreign oil
  • Burns cleaner, generates less pollution
  • Requires fewer air filters, creating less environmental waste
  • Helps meet tougher government fuel efficiency standards

Says farmer Walter McCoy in a testimonial on the company’s website, “Before I had Air Filter Blaster, I would have to replace my filters more often. Since Air Filter Blaster, I have been able to reuse my filters and have saved loads of money.”
